The language of Brazil is Portuguese.
In Brazil, Brazil is spelled Brasil. Your guides all speak English, and are there to help
you at all times. Language is not a problem. If you can master
please ( por favor) and
thank you, ( obrigado) you can get along
quite well. Politeness plays as well in Brazil as it does elsewhere. |
What
about the language thing?

In Brazil, the coin of the realm is
called the real. The plural of real is reais. Real sounds like
hee-al, and reais sounds like hee-eyes. We will take you straight away to a place where
you can convert some bucks into reais.
A real buys about the same amount of
Brazilian merchandise in Brazil as a dollar does in America. The nice
thing is that these days, your dollar equals nearly two
of theirs. This means that on top of low prices, your money goes
twice as far!! |
...And,
the money thing? |
You'll have all the pricing info you need once
you click on one of the green highlighted links on
each and every package page. The link below is on most every page and
will get you ALL Brazil Tour and Brazil Travel Information and Pricing!
|
...And..how
much will it cost? |
For your trip to Brazil, you will need two items:
Item number one is a passport with at least 6 months of life in
it. You are a world traveler now, so you need one. You can go down to the post office and
pick up the forms to get one from your U.S. government or use our handy link on the right
to print your own.
For item two, after you get your passport,
you’ll need to turn right around and send it to your regional Brazilian
Consulate to let them stamp a Visa into it. The reason you have to have
a visa to travel to Brazil is that Brazilians need a visa to travel to
the U.S. Yes, blame it on the U.S. government. You
can go to our Visa Page and look up the
consulate for your region and contact them for forms, or if time is critical or you just
don't want to fool with it you can let a professional visa service do it for you. Some
consulates require you to come in person, or use a visa service. Some don't. Check yours
on the Visa Page. In any event, Gap Adventures is always here with advice for you, if you need it.
The trick to getting your visa that works every time it is tried
is to fill out your form TO THE LETTER.
Consulates of any country arent well known for their
generosity with bad paperwork. Fill it out properly and you wont have any problem.
Youll also need to send them a photocopy of your tickets or a copy of your
itinerary. Do this, and youll have your visa back in a week. If you dont get
it back in that time, its because you filled out something wrong, and youll
need to phone and or fax them to find out what to do. Its a hassle for U.S.
citizens, but its even more of a hassle for Brazilians. So, get your passport and
visa in order. |
The
Paperwork
You will need a passport and visa
to come to BrazilAmerica.com Country. It's no big deal when you follow this simple advice.
Your
U.S. Passport Place
U.S. government passport information
(Save this for later.)
Visit our Visa Page to find your nearest Brazilian Consulate. This is
where you send your passport to have it stamped with an entry visa or for a service fee
you can use a professional visa service.
Follow the visa directions to the
letter and you will have your passport back in a week, stamped and ready!
Americans must have a visa to go
to Brazil simply because Brazilians must have a visa to travel to the U.S. |
You are
ready now. You have all your paperwork completed, and youre counting the days. What
should you get to wear? In BrazilAmerica.com Country, casual is in. Sandals are always fine, and shorts
are in. You might want to bring a pair of good shoes, slacks and a shirt, or a nicer dress
for dining out in the evenings. Otherwise, sandals and shorts are great 365 days of the
year.
Please, whatever you do, don't haul out that Hawaiian shirt you
have been saving...You know, the one with the flowers and stuff on it. Brazilian's won't
outright laugh at you, but they will snicker when you walk past. Normal clothes are fine.
The temperature averages 85F year round, so get yourself a
good tan before you come. Dont try get your years worth on your vacation.
Youll roast. Either way, bring two bottles of suntan lotion. You will be in the sun.
Bring a heavy duty 45 SPF to start. You can go to a lighter grade, once you become
acclimated. Its just good standard beach sense, no matter where you go. |
Getting
ready for the trip.
For clothing, casual is in
when
you do Brazil.
Don't try to get all your yearly
tan on your Souped Up BrazilAmerica.com Vacation.
