          Seen from the heights of the dunes, it is one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world, particularly if you should spy a lonely white sail of a passing jangada set against the sun strewn deep blue of the white capped ocean. The contrast of the green of the coconut palms clinging to the sides of the dunes against the frothed blue of the sea is breathtaking, and a trophy beyond compare in your camera lens.
          Many times, when one goes on a beach vacation, the sights are grand, but there is something lacking. How many countless million feet and eyes have been right where you are on the popular beaches of the world. There is something of tiredness about them.

          Lagoinha, on the other hand, as most of our other destinations, is as fresh as yesterday, because it is a relatively new discovery. When granddad was having fun in Rio, Lagoinha was known only to the few brave Jangadeiros who plied their fishing trade up and down the lonely coast.
          It wasn't until the 80's that this new paradise came into fashion. The story goes that a local fisherman named Milton was approached by a Frenchman who liked the scenery. The stranger offered to pay Milton a sum of money to rent a room to stay in. Milton wasn't quite sure of the Frenchman's intentions, but decided to oblige him.
          The next year the Frenchman returned with friends, followed by some Argentineans, and then, by the ever present Italians. Milton, happy at his turn of luck, and recognizing that there was money in the lodging business decided to buy some bricks and cement and build some inns, which are still there today. Next to his inns someone built a fancy new restaurant, and the rest is recent history.

          Since then, Lagoinha has become legendary, and fully seven out of ten articles about the Cearán coastline feature pictures of it, and its fantastic beaches.
