Morro Branco:

  Morro Branco sits only some sixty miles from Fortaleza, and just a little further down the beach you'll find the lovely tourist resort of Praia das Fontes. Fontes is the Portuguese word for springs, and indeed there are many there which provide cool, fresh water, quite suitable for drinking.
          Coming from Fortaleza, Morro Branco is the first place that you will encounter the falesias, or eroded cliffs, on this delightfully exotic coastline. The most amazing thing here is that the cliffs are so colorful, ranging from white to pink and from red to beige. Chances are that you will not leave without one or more bottles of the home grown, naturally colored sand, crafted by local artists. They feature little sand murals of the sea, beach houses, trees, sky, and of course, the beach. The art of bottle art is as mystifying as building ships in bottles. It is not for amateurs.
          As you walk down the beach, on one side you have the ocean, calm and shallow, and on the other, the falesias. Nature has carved natural mazes through the cliffs, and you can have a bit of fun exploring these narrow passages.
          Behind Morro Branco, march the eternal dunes. They are so beautiful that you will swear they were created by Hollywood. With courage and good will,  you may wish to climb the largest hill, the Mirante do Morro Branco and observe the ocean, goings and comings of the local fishermen, and the far horizons. It is a  beautiful, panoramic view of the ocean off Ceará.
          Just a short drive down the coast,   Praia das Fontes awaits your growing pleasure. Again, this area is also known for its colorful cliffs, fresh water springs, and paths through the eroded hillsides to the beaches of white sand kissed by blue waters.
           As in many of the other beaches of Ceara, the old fisherman village of Praia das Fontes co-exists with the modern tourist facilities. You must not forget the fishermen in your vacation of a lifetime, and they are tirelessly friendly to visitors.
          Progress has been kind to Praia das Fontes and Morro Branco. The beaches are untouched, as are the dunes behind the towns. If you choose a dune buggy adventure, you will not be disappointed, because you can stop and step out upon the untrod sands just as if you were the first human to see the beautiful sights.
          The dunes end abruptly here and there, to reveal cool blue lakes with an almost cropped carpet of vegetation that invites you to explore.
