Canoa Quebrada:

OceanView Speaks.gif (538 bytes)  Canoa Quebrada (Broken Canoe) sits at the eastern edge of our organized tours, 102 miles from Fortaleza, and very well represents the interesting dual nature of an OceanView vacation.
Canoa Quebrada is a very special and popular destination, and might well be what you are looking for. For reasons that are hard for most foreigners to understand, Canoa Quebrada,  for Brazilians, is one of the most popular all time must see places in the whole country of Brazil. You may do well to see if you can unravel the mystery. Briefly stated, the heart of Canoa Q is a relatively small beach, backed by a marvelously old and well kept hard luck fishing village and fishing town. The working village has to be maintained, by law, as it always was, for historical purposes. The tiny little fishing "town" is also preserved. The main drag, and the only street through town is called Broadway.
Just west of Canoa Q, which sits at the eastern end of our personal tour area, you'll find ultra modern hotels, and a growing local economy of touristic enterprises in Porto Canoa and Majorlandia.
Canoa Q really was just a sleepy fishing village until it was discovered by American hippies in the 70's. They came in packs to get back to nature. Later, in the 80's, well heeled Europeans started moving in and the hippies moved on. Today, it's open to the whole world. You'll enjoy the back country dune buggy rides and they even have para sailing for the adventurous.
